Club 1890 is established independently to provide financial support to Newtongrange Star Football Club (the Football Club) through regular fundraising contributions.

Funds raised by the group will be used exclusively for football-related expenses, including but not limited to player acquisitions, training equipment, and other essential football-related costs.

Club 1890 will also as appropriate and at the discretion of the Executive Board, help arrange social events for Club 1890 Members,
and any other event or process felt by the Executive Board to further the interests of the Football Club and/or Club 1890 Members.

David Black

David has been volunteering at the club for nearly 4 years now with the 50/50 half-time draw and hospitality his main duties. David’s background in football was for nearly 30 years he helped run the Amateur football club NCB Newtongrange in the village, David has for the last 37 years worked at the Scottish Government.

Myra Duncan

Myra was born in Easthouses and has lived in Newtongrange for well over 30 years.  Her husband and son were always ‘Nitten Star’ supporters so local football was never far from home and now after 45 years in the Office Equipment and Digital Print Industry, Myra has returned to these roots with renewed purpose.

Her professional life was based on evolution and excellence for her early roles in training to her final and most fulfilling position as Customer Success Manager where she built a reputation for integrity and unwavering commitment to service.

Myra’s dedication extended beyond the workplace, through a company lead Social Responsibility Scheme, she embraced volunteering as a way to give back and discovered the power of service beyond business, connecting with people, causes and communities in ways that left a lasting impact.

Now recently retired, Myra steps into a new chapter with Club 1890 and promises to bring experience, vision and loyalty to Nitten Star – her goal is clear,  to help build a sustainable future for this great club that shaped many childhoods and continues to inspire this community of Newtongrange!

Nick Frankland

Nick’s formal roles at the Club are Secretary, and Match Secretary, so working with the management team, committee and SFA, is involved in the day-to-day management of SFA requirements around players, match days and ensuring the relevant Club SFA papers are fully maintained.

In addition to his formal roles, Nick also collaborates with the committee and management team on Community focussed initiatives to help ensure the Club faces out to the broader Newtongrange community in the most positive way possible.

In his professional life, Nick was a Principal Consultant with a national UK pension consultancy, and after a 40-year career has retired, and now devotes much of his time to his roles at Newtongrange Star.

Club 1890 is an independent fundraising supporters group established to provide financial support to Newtongrange Star Football Club. The funds raised by the group are used exclusively for football-related expenses.

Membership is open to individuals committed to supporting the club financially. To become a member, you simply agree to make an initial membership contribution, and regular monthly payments of your choosing.

Members agree to make regular monthly payments electronically into Club 1890’s designated bank account, with a minimum payment of £5 per month. Members can determine the amount (subject to the above minimum) of their donations made to Club 1890 upon sign-up, and can amend, cancel, or change the amount at anytime thereafter. There is also the option to make a one-off donation.

Members of Club 1890 receive a joining gift as a token of appreciation. Additionally, members are invited to exclusive social events, providing opportunities to connect with fellow supporters and engage with the club in a more personal way.

All funds are held in a separate bank account dedicated solely to the activities of Club 1890. Transactions require authorisation from two signatories, and financial records are maintained with transparency. Regular financial updates will beprovided to members, and independent audits may be conducted annually.

Club 1890 is overseen by an Executive Board, which includes a Lead Person and additional board members. One current serving committee member of the Football Club must always serve on the Executive Board. The initial Board comprises Nick Frankland (Club Secretary), plus Myra Duncan and David Black as prominent Club supporters.

Decisions regarding fund allocation are made through majority voting by the Executive Board.

Funds raised by Club 1890 can be used for various football-related expenses, including player acquisitions, training and coaching resources, equipment and kits, matchday expenses, youth development programs, and football club building and infrastructure repairs and maintenance.

Funds cannot be used for utility bills, purchase of provisions, general supplies, and alcohol for the social club. The Executive Board has the discretion to determine other appropriate uses for the funds.

Members will receive periodic updates, including financial reports and expenditure details. The Executive Board will hold regular meetings to review the financial status and discuss upcoming needs for funding allocation. Annual General Meetings (AGMs) may also be held to review the group’s impact and outline future plans.

Yes, to enable flexibility any amendments to the Terms of Reference must be approved by the Executive Board through a majority vote.

If Club 1890 is dissolved by the Executive Board, any remaining funds must be remitted immediately and in full to the Football Club for the Football Club Committee to deploy as they see fit.

Members of Newtongrange Star FC (the Club) are entitled to attend the Club AGM and any other Club related meetings, and vote on matters connected to the operation of the Club.
Club 1890 membership is entirely separate and distinct, and enables supporters to offer financial support to the Club, as well as be part of and attend Club 1890 social functions.

• Membership is open to individuals committed to supporting the club financially.

• Members will receive a unique gift for their initial sign up, then after 12 months of consecutive membership will be gifted their very own named brick added to our wall at New Victoria Park.

• Authorisation of transactions in the Club 1890 account will require 2 signatories, or such other number as shall be determined Executive Board from time to time.

• The financial records of Club 1890 will be maintained with transparency, and regular financial updates will be provided to members.

• Independent auditing of the group’s financial activities may be conducted annually or as required.

Club 1890 will be overseen by an Executive Board, comprising an odd number of board members which shall consist of a Lead Person and additional board members to ensure fair and decisive voting outcomes.

One current serving committee member of the Football Club must always serve on the Club 1890 Executive Board.

• The Executive Board will be responsible for managing membership contributions, financial oversight, and approving fund usage, and any other community focussed activities promoting aspects of the Football Club.

• Decisions regarding fund allocation will be made through majority voting by the Executive Board.

Funds raised by Club 1890 may only be used for football-related expenses, or to support events or processes for Club 1890 Members as appropriate and at the discretion of the Executive Board, including:

Player acquisitions and wages

Training and coaching resources

Equipment and kits

Matchday expenses

Youth development programs

Football club building and infrastructure repairs and maintenance

Funds cannot be used for:

Utility bills (electricity, water, heating, etc.)

Purchase of provisions, general supplies and alcohol for the social club
