Message from The President – Joe Wilson

This Saturday 10th October sees the delayed start of the 2020/21 East of Scotland Football League season, but it will be totally different due to the pandemic we find ourselves stuck in. Following this weeks developments we can confirm we will kick off the campaign at home to Camelon behind closed doors.

Since lockdown ended last season prematurely Chris and Wes have transformed the playing squad and added two new coaches to the backroom staff. I have been fortunate through my position to get to know the new guys, watch them train through an extended preseason and see them take to the pitch in our closed-door friendlies. The squad is ready and keen to do well, they have put in the work over the last two months and we hope they get the rewards there effort deserve.

As usual a new season brings a fresh excitement, but it is a muted excitement as football without fans is sadly lacking the passion that you the supporters bring, even in the preseason friendlies. We hope to see you all back on the terraces soon. However, watch out for some exciting news as Cameron and Andrew have been trialling the possibility of our matches being streamed live on the internet.

During lockdown, the support we received through our fund-raising platforms was phenomenal. The Donate a Ticket campaign raised an amazing amount to help see the club through an exceedingly difficult period. As the season begins without supporters at games, we ask you to consider donating, through Donate a Ticket what you would normally spend coming to a game this will help us enormously as we will still have matchday expenses and regular bills to pay. Matchday revenue accounts for a large portion of the club’s income and your help is greatly appreciated.

Unfortunately the Social club is closed as we comply with the latest government advice and the games are behind closed doors, so to help us keep matches being played and to keep everyone safe please do not come to the ground tomorrow. We will update social media regularly throughout the game and hopefully stream matches live in the future.

Thanks for your continued support. Be on The Star !

Joe Wilson
