Statement from Newtongrange Star
Following a period of negotiations, we are excited to be partnering with Lasswade Thistle to create a player pathway through Lasswade youth teams to the Star U20’s and on to the 1st Team. The committee and Management team are looking forward to working with our counterparts at Lasswade and developing local players to play at the highest level. Lasswade are a relatively young club, but are ambitious, well organised and forward thinking which we believe will benefit our playing squad and offer real aspirational opportunities to Lasswade players. Our Management team will take an active interest in the teams at Lasswade and will join them on occasion to take part in training sessions and share ideas with the Lasswade coaches.
The last year has been particularly difficult however this is an exciting development, and we look forward to seeing Lasswade Thistle players, coaches and parents at New Victoria Park watching the 1st team and taking an active part on match days as ball boys, mascots and playing half-time fun games.
In the last few years, we’ve faced different challenges as we progressed into the SFA pyramid and this partnership is the next stage in moving the club forward.
Be on the STAR !

Statement from Lasswade Thistle
We are delighted to announce that after a few months of discussions, Lasswade Thistle FC are going to form a collaborative partnership with Newtongrange Star FC. Our club has come a long way in 10 years and by forming an alliance with Newtongrange Star we are able to create a pathway from Youth to Adult football, while widening our out reach and stakeholders in the community of Midlothian. This partnership will cement our position as one of most exciting up and coming youth football clubs in Midlothian, working with one of the most forward thinking, ambitious Adult football clubs in the East of Scotland. The day to day coaching, training and game play will continue for all age groups, with the management team of Newtongrange Star keeping an active interest in the development of our players. This will specifically be reinforced during the transition stage as they develop towards the U17 age range and onwards to Adult football. We have decided that we will be incorporating the Star in our club Name moving forward to recognise the partnership, so to confirm the club will become Lasswade Thistle Star FC from next season. We encourage everybody associated with the club to continue with the amazing support of the players and volunteer coaches during this difficult time, to ensure we continue grow and develop our talented children. This is a very exciting time for our club and the future opportunities with our new partners will allow us to flourish. Please follow the progress of Newtongrange Star as we move forward with them over the next few years!
