Nelson to depart nvp

The Club can confirm that, after seven years at New Victoria Park, Club Captain Adam Nelson will bring his Newtongrange Star career to a close at the end of the current season.

Adam has been a leader in every sense of the word, setting the standard on and off the pitch and representing the club with pride, passion, and commitment.

Manager Paul Milligan said: “Adam has been a great servant to this club. He sets such high standards around the place and his leadership as captain has been outstanding.

Adam agreed to extend his playing career in order to help guide the club back into the premier division, and then to help keep us up this season. I am absolutely certain we wouldn’t have been able to do it without him.

He has been fortunate enough to win a lot of things over his career, but I know that the 17th May 2025, captaining his home town team to promotion on such an amazing day, will be something he is forever proud of.

I hope he gets the send off he deserves in his final home game this Saturday at New Victoria Park”.

Everyone at Newtongrange Star thanks Adam for his outstanding service and wishes him all the very best for the future, whatever it may bring.
